The seals in the tubs are purposely created with a tiny hole to prevent jar implosion through oxygen scavenging.
Either these or “breathable” seals are now used by the majority of manufacturers for certain products. The hole is typically is smaller than a pinhole and is not a security risk. The seal itself is not actually required for safety, it is simply there to prevent powder leaking out of the jar.
